6 I'm Back (I think)

I have been one foot in and one foot out of this place for a few years now. It probably hasn't truly felt like it because once every 4-6 weeks a new posts pops up, but my mind just hasn't been into this whole writing thing. I always feel like I am busting with stories and ideas to share, most of which come to me when I am driving or in the shower, but I can never seem to muster the energy to turn thoughts into anything coherent. And the thought of having to make pinable images and SEO and blah blah blah. Fuck it, I'm just going to drink this glass of wine and binge watch Fringe (I totally did that this month).

It has become a chore to blog and is right up there along side folding and putting laundry away and emptying the dishwasher. Just to give you an idea of where my head is at , I seriously contemplated starting to re-watch LOST rather than having to sit down and write tonight. Do you know why I could never be a full time blogger? 93% of the time I'm on a computer I go down a Facebook or YouTube rabbit hole. Why YES Buzzfeed, I do want to watch a video of Americans trying Canadian beer for the first time.

Anyways, the root of my sporadic posting and general absence comes down to me questioning if my life is blogable. Making sustainable decisions has become easy for me so I don't automatically think that there is anything to share. Perhaps it's that I have gotten to the point where I feel that the internet is so saturated with people posting content that there is nothing that really makes me stand out. (That looks so dumb when I read that back). Standing out was never the reason I created this space and started to share my life. I did it because I wanted to share my successes, challenges and hilarious failures with others. I want to keep doing that but I don't want it to feel like folding a fitted sheet. I want it to be fun again.

Everyone knows fun starts with a spreadsheet, so I've come up with a plan and it contains 18 posts that don't bore the crap out of me and some of which are going to be extremely humorous. Like when I try to learn how to apply makeup for the first time ever or when I take you down the path with me as I learn to sew.  I'm also going to be dehydrating all the food in the next month preparing for our backcountry canoe trip, which will probably result in a few minor disasters and possibly food poisoning.

So, I'm back. Don't expect daily posts from me or anything. I'm not a miracle worker and I do have a day job. But what you can expect is at least weekly posts, a bi-weekly newsletter and more general action on the internets.

  1. I hope your spreadsheet helps you rediscover the fun. I know being organized is a precondition for happiness for me. ;-)

    1. Ahhh dehydrating....so much "fun" when trying to figure out what will require the least amount of time and water to rehydrate.
